Ecstasy Addiction Treatment

MDMA or ecstasy users addiction is mainly a psychological addiction similar to those experienced by methamphetamine and cocaine users.

At Metamorphosis, every client is an individual.  However all clients will receive effective ecstasy addiction treatment  at our addiction treatment centre in Wasaga Beach.

Effects of MDMA/Ecstasy

MDMA users experience a period of euphoria that may last for up to 6 hours after taking MDMA. Not all users experience pleasurable effects.

Some may experience anxiety, depression and, in some rare cases, loss of consciousness.  Continuous consumption of MDMA will also lead to sleep deprivation.  After-effects of MDMA wear off, people usually experience pain in muscles, severe tiredness, depression and/or anxiety.  Physical effects can also include muscle tension, involuntary teeth clenching and grinding, intense nausea, blurred vision, faintness, and chills or cold sweats.

In addition to its mentally rewarding effects, MDMA’s psychological effects can include confusion, depression, sleep problems, anxiety, and paranoia, both short-term and long-term, after taking the drug.

MDMA/Ecstasy Addiction Symptoms

Symptoms such as increases in heart rate and blood pressure have led to reports of MDMA-related fatalities at music festivals and raves with more frequency in recent years.  The stimulant effects of the drug can lead to dehydration, hyperthermia, and heart or kidney failure.

MDMA use damages neurons associated with brain serotonin both during and after use.  Long-term side effects also include memory loss and brain damage.

MDMA/Ecstasy Addiction Treatment

Despite being a difficult drug to treat for addiction, much like methamphetamine and cocaine, research shows the most effective treatment for MDMA addiction and abuse is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).  Drug abuse recovery support groups may also be effective in supporting and reaching long-term, drug-free recovery goals.  There are currently no pharmacological treatments for dependence on MDMA.

Some may think that if they have made it through an addiction treatment program, then their problems are over.

Completing an addiction treatment program is a great accomplishment, but it is only the beginning of the transformational journey.

As part of all ’s ecstasy addiction treatment programs, we offer comprehensive aftercare services. By this way, upon your graduation, we will be able to prevent any kind of relapse through our Aftercare, and Continuation of Care programs.

A comprehensive and well-thought Aftercare is especially important during the first few years of recovery.

Aftercare

Aftercare participation is a chance to interact with other clients who also struggle with addiction, practice social skills and identify relapse triggers. Our Aftercare Groups enable you to have an opportunity to check in and receive constructive feedback from fellow addicts on how you are progressing.

Continuation of Care

Clients will schedule a call with the Continuation of Care Counsellor during the first week after discharge. Addiction counselling calls will continue each week for the next two months upon graduation. Clients can arrange calls to suit their schedules within regular business hours. These counselling calls will provide an excellent way of tracking progress and discussing any issues that may arise.
